Wild orchids in sumatra: Calanthe emarginata (Blume) Lindl., 1833

This is Calanthe emargina name refers to character emarginate in mid-lobe of labellum. This species put as heterotypic symnoym with Calanthe sylvatica (Thouars) Linld., 1833. The hollotype published by Blume from Java plant as attach below this site. Java is the nearest area distribution to Sumatra. In other hand Calanthe sylvatica published from hollotype africa plant, so that why I do not use it.

This plant collected by Mr. Wilhamdani Sitompul from South Tapanuli regency, North Sumatra. It is flowering on 10 February 2013 in cultivation. The leaves measure as c. 27 cm long by c. 12 cm broad. Dorsal sepal c. 2 cm long. Apex labellum emarginate. Fragrant.
