Aporum salicornioides before transfer to genus Aporum name as
Dendrobium salicornioides. It is first published by author
Johannes Elias Teijsmann and
Simon Binnendijk in
Natuurkundig Tijdschrift voor Nederlandsch-Indiƫ. Jakarta volume 24 page 315, 1862.
The basionym specimen was collected from Rakata island at elevation 200 - 300 m above sea level, a small island part of Krakatau island part of Sumatra. Compare to Dendrobium uncatum lindl that now trasnfer to be Aporum uncatum, this species have more small and short plant, small flowers c. a half size of Aporum uncatum, and the colour roseis or splash purple, in other hand Aporum uncatum have more bigger flower and the colour is pure white.
We find the isotype specimen from mainland Sumatra in Rejang Lebong regency, where the elevation range 700 - 1200 m above sea level. The specimen flowering on 27 July 2011. (See
link.) This page capture with the second isotype specimen that we found from lower elevation c. 300 - 600m above sea level. Collected by Mr. Azman Bainuri in rubber plantation from Padang Ulak Tanding district, Rejang Lebong regency, Bengkulu about c. 60 -70 KM from the first location found by Mr. Leicneagra. The second specimen flowering 24 January 2013.
Fresh flowers can last up to 3 - 4 days.Very disctinct diffrencies with Dendrobium uncatum from colour, dorsal sepal and labellum. The flowers smaller than D. uncatum with lateral sepal about 1.1 cm long.
