Origin in the Wild:
Sumatra 

Elevation in the Wild:
Around 1,000 metres.
Our specimen come from c. 1100 - 1200 meters.

Habitat in the Wild:
This species has been collected on Mount Rimbo Pengadang in the Bukit Barisan Mountains, Bengkulu Province. 
Our specimen come from also Rimbo Pengadang, Bengkulu Province.

The Plants Description:
The pseudobulbs cluster together on a short rhizome. The pseudobulbs are shaped terete and narrowed at their apices. The pseudobulbs measure 11cm long and 7mm in diameter. The leaves are petiolate; the petiole measures 4.25cm long. The leaf blades are shaped lanceolate and have acute apices. The leaf blades measure 18cm long and 3.3cm wide. The leaves are green on their upper surface and have purple spotting underneath. 

The Inflorescence:
The peduncle measures 13cm long. The rachis is pendent and measures c13cm long. The flowers are spaced 3mm apart. 

The Flowers:
The flowers are brownish and green basally, the labellum is light reddish brown with pale margins. The column is pale green and the stelidia are white. The dorsal sepal is shaped narrowly lanceolate and has an acute apex. The dorsal sepal is concave with recurved margins and measures 6.3mm long. The lateral sepals are shaped obliquely lanceolate and measure c6.3mm long and 1.6mm wide. The petals are shaped obliquely lanceolate and have acuminate apices. The petals measure 5.3mm long and 1.5mm wide. The petal margins are white. The labellum is entire and curved. The hypochile is shaped quadrangular and has dentate margins. The epichile is shaped ovate and has an obtuse apex that is convex and minutely erose. The column measures 2.5mm long, the apical hood has erose margins. The stelidia grow from the middle of the column and are broader at their base. The stelidia are shaped obliquely triangular, falcate and have acute apices. The stelidia barely reach the column apex.

Culture:
The Leiden syntype is of a plant that was cultivated in Bogor Botanic Garden in 1916.
Available at Leicneagra`s collection gardens.

Dendrochilum odoratum
Dendrochilum bandaharaense (similarity appearance). 
Dendrochilum beccarii

Other Information:
J.J. Smith wrote that this plant was similar to Dendrochilum simile and Dendrochilum odoratum but differs by its flower colour, denticulate labellum and 3 keels.
