Originally sent from Bengkulu together with a consignment B. binnendjikii J. J. Sm. to England where Sander & Sons of St Albans cultivated it for some time until eventually it flowered.
The collection made from Bengkulu by Sir Stamford Raffles and his friend Messrs. Arnold and William Jack was lost at in 1824 owing to fire at sea.
According to Mr. Sonny A. S. as the owner specimens, the flowers smell like Bunga Tanjung (Mimusops elengi) and flowers bloom last c.4 days.
