Bulbophyllum adelphidium J.J.Verm., 1993

Bulbophyllum adelphidium was describe by Vermeulen at year 1993 in Blumea 38, 1 : 146. This is endemic orchid native to sumatra.

The main characteristic is  :
Caulis :
Pseudobulbs almost cylindrical but a little flattened, 6 - 11 cm long by 1.3 - 2 cm broad.
Folia :
elliptic to obovate, 31 - 47 cm long by  7 - 14 cm broad on a 5 - 10 mm long petiole.
Inflorescences :
bearing about 18 - 30 flowers, the peduncle 5 -10 cm, the rachis 4 -6 cm long and arching.
Flowers :
not opening widely, mostly cream colored, brownish green or pale pinkis purple, some time with pale purple spotting, exuding a strong smell of rotten prawns.
Lip :
Curved, not lobed, ovate in outline, with two rounded ridges running from the base almost to the apex and a median furrow wich is a specially distinct near the base. (Comber, 761, 2001)
