Crepidium kabense (J.J.Sm.) Szlach., 1995

A purple wine colour flower orchid from genus Crepidium named as Microstylis kabensis by J. J. Smith from a volcano name, Mount. Kaba , from our home town. The first specimen collected from Mount Kaba, Rejang Lebong regency, Bengkulu province, terresterial forest at 1300 m. An endemic orchid from this area.

Rediscovery Crepidium kabense

We have rediscovered this orchid at 3rd Octover 2011, after to do examining a specimen from Leicnegara`s orchid garden thats flowering in august 28th, 2011. After meausure and collected data we do adjustment to Crepidium kabense description. Al the data is matching with description (Valid). We so proud to be first publishing photo orchid Crepidium kabense for public recognition.

Our specimen taken from Kaba mountain nearby at elevation about 800-1000 m. We are very happy because this one is a lost orchid from our home town (Rejang Land, Mount Kaba), and we have manage to rediscovery.

Following note from J. J. Simith, we also found the principle notable character of this species in our specimen. The principle character is the tip of the lip wich is recurved in the form of the spout of a milk jug, thus appearing shortly bidentate because of the erect margins.
