Ceratostylis sarcostomatoides J.J.Sm., 1927
I recieved 4 photos today from Leicneagra`s orchid garden as specimen for determine ID. The result ID is a beautifull orchid from genus Ceratostylis, and named by J. J. Smith as Ceratostylis sarcostomatoides at year 1927. I think this is rediscovery, because no find photo have publishing for public and more data as reported in litelature for helping identification.
Specimen J. J. Smith collected from Lubuk Sikaping and Talu in west sumatra without indication of the elevation. He also make a note this orchid is endemic.
Our specimen come from south west sumatra highland, the region not too far from specimen J. J. Sm, and today is flowering as you see in this blog.
It is easy to identify because its characteristic appear, this one looks superficially like a Sarcostoma, mainly because of the purple margins on petals, hence the name.
